12 Dec The Spark of Creation
There’s nothing we love more than becoming one of a retailer’s preferred shopfitters, and that’s just what we’ve become in our work with Spark. With six stores delivered since May 2017, Spark continue to choose to work with us on account of the “high quality of work, customer service, professionalism and attitude” according to Mike Friend, Senior Retail Project Manager for Spark New Zealand.
It’s always exciting working on multiple stores for a client – each has its own individual limitations (such as landlord requirements) and brings new challenges.
Take last year’s Christchurch store. Spark discovered that the mall they were going into didn’t actually have a code of compliance for their site and they legally they couldn’t open the store. Our team managed to get the certificate for public use sorted in less than a week (when it normally takes 20 working days). Steve Newman, who was PM on the project, went above and beyond and “saved (our) ass” on that occasion.
“We value the natural approach to a working relationship,” shares Mike. “Datum isn’t too caught up in trying to be corporate and everyone is really easy to get on with.”
Following several projects working with Mike, including the new Spark store at Silverdale, he’s highlighted how we always overcome issues and meet deadlines – showing that you’re all well and truly living up to our values!
“Datum deliver great results and we always get great feedback from landlords and internally as well. They’ve never let us down and never missed a handover date which is amazing considering the time pressure they are under.”
